Bebras task workshops

Where global experts craft challenges to inspire young minds in computational thinking

Bebras task workshops

About the workshops

Bebras task workshops are intensive, collaborative events that bring together experts from all participating countries. These workshops are the heart of the Bebras initiative, where the tasks that will challenge and inspire students worldwide are created and refined.

Goals and participation

The main goal is to bring together informatics experts from all Bebras countries for discussion and preparation of tasks. Two delegates from each Bebras contest country participate, with additional delegates possible upon negotiation.

Workshop process

Countries provide task proposals before the workshop. Proposals are discussed in groups due to the large number of tasks, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection.

Additional activities

Workshops often include symposiums for local teachers and researchers, developing new quality standards, and elaborating strategies for interactive tasks.

Mandatory tasks

Well-prepared tasks can be selected as mandatory for all national Bebras contests, confirmed by voting at the end of the workshop.

National task sets

National organizers create task sets for their contests, including the mandatory tasks selected during the workshop, ensuring consistency across all participating countries.

International collaboration

Participants share experiences, learn new methodologies, and collaborate with educators from around the world to enhance computational thinking education globally.

The heart of Bebras initiative

Bebras Armenia actively participates in these international workshops to contribute to the development of engaging tasks and to stay at the forefront of computational thinking education. Our participation allows us to share experiences, learn new methodologies, and collaborate with educators from around the world.

20th International Bebras Task Workshop

May 13-17, 2024
Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia

The 20th International Bebras Task Workshop in Serbia marked a significant milestone for Bebras Armenia. This year, we proudly submitted two original problems from Armenia, actively contributing to the global pool of computational thinking challenges. Our team immersed themselves in various working groups, further refining our skills in task creation and evaluation.

The highlight of the workshop was our official acceptance as members of the Bebras community, a testament to our dedication and progress since our first participation. This recognition solidified our position within the global Bebras network and opened new doors for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Our representative, David, delivered a compelling presentation outlining our ambitious goals for the next five years. His talk was met with enthusiasm from the international Bebras community, generating exciting discussions about potential partnerships and innovative approaches to computational thinking education.

This workshop not only celebrated our achievements but also set the stage for our future contributions to computational thinking education in Armenia and beyond. We left Serbia with renewed inspiration, stronger international connections, and a clear vision for the future of Bebras in our country.

19th International Bebras Task Workshop

May 13-18, 2023
Hurghada, Egypt

The 19th International Bebras Task Workshop in Egypt marked our inaugural participation in this global event, serving as a foundational experience for Bebras Armenia. Our team approached this workshop with a primary goal of immersing ourselves in the Bebras community and gaining comprehensive insights into the competition's structure, processes, and philosophy.

We actively engaged in various working groups, absorbing knowledge about task creation, evaluation methodologies, and adaptation strategies for different age groups. These sessions provided us with invaluable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in developing high-quality computational thinking challenges.

One of the most valuable aspects of the workshop was the opportunity to network with experienced Bebras organizers from around the world. We forged important connections, exchanged ideas, and learned from the best practices of established Bebras communities. These interactions laid the groundwork for our future involvement and collaborations within the global Bebras network.

By the end of the workshop, we had not only gained a deep understanding of the Bebras challenge but also established a solid foundation for our journey towards becoming full members of the Bebras community and association. We left Egypt inspired, motivated, and equipped with the knowledge and connections necessary to bring the Bebras challenge to Armenia with confidence and enthusiasm.
